Let’s Be Real: The Bible Isn’t Up for Debate

Let’s Be Real: The Bible Isn’t Up for Debate

Wouldn’t it be refreshing to just open the Bible and read it as what it truly is—a conversation and guide from God? A divine message crafted out of love, direction, and purpose. Yet so often, it's misunderstood, debated, or even twisted to justify behaviors that go against God’s will.

It would be nice if we could just “agree to disagree,” but if we’re claiming to follow Jesus, then we need to understand: this isn’t a casual topic. It’s literally a matter of life and death—physically and spiritually.

Now picture this:
Two people are arguing about what they believe the Bible means—each twisting the Word to fit their personal lifestyle or narrative —while Jesus stands nearby, watching and listening to them debate His Word. What a heartbreaking waste of time.

Here’s the truth:
The Bible doesn’t change its meaning to accommodate our disobedience. Just because we want to live a certain way doesn’t mean God is okay with it or that He conforms or changes to fit what we THINK or FEEL. He’s holy, consistent, and just.  The same yesterday, today and forever.

Are there confusing parts in Scripture? Absolutely. There are things that will stretch our understanding, challenge our thinking, and even make us uncomfortable. That’s okay. We’re human. But the solution isn’t to argue—it’s to pray for wisdom and seek understanding.

And if we find ourselves struggling to accept a part of God’s Word, maybe it’s time to pause and ask:
“Why am I really resisting this?” Is it because society is saying is okay? Is it because we think God should just understand our decision and ignore it?

Sometimes, the truth is: We don’t want to give up that thing because we want it more than we want our relationship with God. Period.

That is… until we’re desperate. Until we need His help.
But let’s not wait until desperation forces surrender.

Let’s not forget: God has feelings, too.
Perfect feelings—without sin. He can be grieved. He can be hurt. So we have to ask ourselves:
Is that thing we’re holding on to worth hurting Him?

Instead of fighting the Word, let’s ask for help to follow it.
Let’s be honest with God:

“I want to please You, Lord—but I need Your strength to walk away from what’s keeping me from You.”

Because one day, we’ll all stand before Him. And how awful would it be to hear:

“You are not worthy to be in My house.”
That’s real. And if that were to happen, the question becomes:
Where exactly are you being cast out to?
I don’t want any part of hell. Do you?

Let’s count up the cost.
Let’s live for Christ—not because He’s trying to keep us from something good, but because He’s protecting us from something deadly. Often times, when we resist the Word, I can almost guarantee sin is at the center of it.

So here’s the challenge:
Let the Bible be your mirror.
Be honest.
And when it convicts you—pray, not protest.

Jesus is worth it.
And He’s waiting to help.
