Do Now What You’ll Be Satisfied With Later
Let’s be real—every day comes with a series of choices.
From the moment our eyes pop open (whether it’s to an alarm, the sun, or a toddler or pet climbing on our head), we are invited to decide how we’ll move through the day. Some of those choices lift us up. Others? Well… they teach us what not to do next time.
But what if we got intentional—on purpose—about what we give our energy to? What if we paused to think, “Will this feed my joy in the Lord, or drain it?”
That pause could change everything.
Because here’s the truth: we can’t always control what happens, but we can prepare our hearts and minds for how we respond.
- We can choose gratitude for the good.
- We can choose prayer when things get tough.
- We can choose to protect our peace by being mindful of what we consume, who we engage with, and how we treat ourselves.
All of that starts with daily planning—not just the to-do list kind, but heart planning. What posture will I carry today? What mindset will I take with me into every room, every conversation, every moment?
Take a moment—right now—to think about it. What are the little things you can do today that your future self will be grateful for?
- Saying “no” to drama.
- Saying “yes” to rest.
- Giving yourself grace.
- Letting someone else go first.
- Pausing to breathe and pray.
Do now what you’ll be satisfied with later.
Not just for productivity’s sake—but for peace, joy, and spiritual strength.
“The joy of the Lord is your strength.” (Nehemiah 8:10)
So no matter how your day is shaping up, remember: make Him smile today—and don’t be afraid to ask Him for help doing it.
You’ve got this… and even better, God’s got you.
A Simple Prayer for Today
Lord, thank You for the gift of another day. Help me to make decisions that bring You joy and bring me peace. Teach me to pause, reflect, and act with intention. When I’m overwhelmed, be my strength. When I’m uncertain, be my guide. Help me to honor You with my thoughts, my words, and my actions. Today, I trust You, and I choose joy. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
